GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Provide guest programs, activities, classes, and personal consultations. Demonstrate techniques that ensure the best physical, psychological and practical conditions for guests.  Instruct and allow participants to develop abilities and attain their chosen performance or goals

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to teach a variety of daily guest exercise classes: kickboxing, step aerobics, muscle toning class, boot camp, Pilates, yoga, aqua aerobics/muscle conditioning, etc.
  • Conduct outdoor program activities: walking, hiking, biking, and etc.
  • Instruct guests in proper use of all exercise equipment, including weight machines, free weights, cardiovascular machines, etc.
  • Design and provide fitness programs and well-being programs
  • Monitor weight and cardio room and provide assistance to guests
  • Stay current in the latest fitness research and program developments
  • Attend regular meetings as directed by the Fitness Manager
  • Daily monitor of fitness department supplies and equipment with inventory and maintenance check list.
  • Collaborate with Fitness Manager in the development of class scheduling and programming
  • Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the fitness equipment and facilities
  • Conduct guest orientation of the Mind Body studios
  • Provide guest hospitality and excellent customer service.
  • Perform other general duties as assigned by the Fitness Manager
  • Work cooperatively with all resort staff

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work all shifts and have a flexible schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

            To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Two years’ experience leading exercise classes preferred. Two years’ experience as a personal trainer preferred.

 

            EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

            High school diploma or general education degree (GED); ACE, AAFA or similar certification in group fitness instruction. Two years’ experience leading exercise classes preferred. Two years’ experience as a personal trainer preferred.

 

            LANGUAGE SKILLS

            Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

 

            MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

            Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

            REASONING ABILITY

            Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

            While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. They are sometimes required to stand for long hours, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. It is also required that the employee be able to lift, turn, or exert force more than 30 pounds.
