GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Demo Chef is responsible for demonstrating exciting and healthy cooking recipes, must be enthusiast in their particular classes, and teach in a professional manner. The responsibilities of the position include food preparation, guest cooking demonstrations 3 to 4 days a week. Classes should be supporting an atmosphere of educational entertaining.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Facilitate cooking classes that are both helpful and informative, within a 50 minute timeframe for our guests.
- Enforce sanitation and safety principles.
- Keep demos with the theme of menus and healthy expectations of guests.
- Provide energetic kitchen demonstrations.
- Assume responsibility for equipment and facilities of the demo kitchen and/or classrooms.
- Assist with prep-work and meal service when not preparing or conducting demos.
- Collaborate with executive chef and chef de cuisine and specified personnel in order to provide and outstanding guest experience.
- Skill level in Culinary Arts, kitchen demonstration, and safety/sanitary practices.
- Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to break complex concepts down to appropriate level for our properties guests.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two years’ experience with instructional and kitchen demonstration. Knowledge of professional cooking, food preparation, kitchen food production and service in the hospitality industry. Must have ServSafe certification.
